OBESITY

Throughout history mankind has been suffering from a series of diseases and pandemics. With the help of science and recent technology, the human race has been able to prevent the further spread of these diseases and therefore ensure that we as a species can live on.

Today we’ll touch on a pandemic of a different kind. A pandemic that is self induced. A pandemic where the blame cannot be put on a specific race or culture.

According to WHO (World Health Organization) if your BMI measures greater or equal to 25 you are classified as overweight. However if your BMI measures greater or equal to 30 you are classified as obese. Globally there are 1 billion overweight adults, of which 300 million are obese.

With it becoming more prevalent in society today, we can definitely come to the conclusion that it has gone from an epidemic to a global pandemic. Globally, 8% of deaths in 2017 were the result of obesity. Not only is obesity one of the leading causes of premature death, but it also poses  a major risk for chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and stroke, and certain types of cancer.

Obesity has become a global pandemic owing to environments created by us as human beings. With the availability and also convenience of calorie loaded food options, technology eating away at our cognitive bandwidth and humans becoming more and more sedentary, we ourselves have created this ever looming monster in the dark.

The funny thing about curing, controlling or even preventing obesity is, is that it’s not rocket science. The straight up fact is this:

CALORIES IN vs CALORIES OUT

Hard to believe I know. But it’s the simple truth. To simplify it for you, you need to burn more calories than you eat.

Another interesting fact that I will share with you is that you also don’t need to be on the keto diet, a high protein diet of some sort or the weightloss clinic down the road’s 800 calorie/day magic diet (because you will starve, hate your life and you won’t last a week).

You don’t need to cut out sugar, bread, pasta, your occasional Big Mac or guilty pleasure that is a glass of wine. You just need balance and guidance to help you create healthy habits to ensure you stay the course.

So now that the secret is out, Iet us help you become better.
