5 POST HOLIDAYS TRAINING TIPS

New Year - New You!

The holidays are over, and just like you we are excited to be getting back into the gym and face 2022 head on. For some it might be a New Year’s resolution to be their healthiest best self, and for others the struggle might be to get going again.

Nonetheless whatever your reasons are take these 5 tips into consideration when taking on your 2022 Fitness regime.

  1. Take it slow

Whatever you were capable of before the holidays, your period of inactivity and indulgence might suggest otherwise. Start slow, light, just move and embrace the suck. Give yourself 1-2 weeks to get back into the swing of things and gradually build on the intensity and volume of your workouts. Also refrain from using the heaviest weights in the gym. No need to show off - everyone still knows you are the strongest. And we don’t want our strongest athlete injured as well because his/her pride got in the way. ;)

  1. Avoid the quick fixes

So you gained some weight over the holidays. Who cares except for you and maybe your jeans. Everyone else still loves you. Those few kilos are most likely just water weight and getting back to your normal routine will see them gone in two weeks from now. Alos avoid any quick detoxes and diets. THEY WILL NOT WORK. If you truly want change, sign up with one of our nutrition coaches and become your best self in 2022.

  1. Schedule your training

Just like you schedule meetings and social events, schedule your training down in your diary and make it a priority. If you cannot even keep a promise to yourself can you keep a promise at all???

  1. Join a group class or get a friend involved

If you struggle with discipline then joining a fitness community is the best to get going. It’s fun, you share your suffering with others and you are held accountable. If that is not motivation enough, sign up with a friend or partner. Surrounding yourself with like minded people and a supportive environment will guarantee you sticking to your fitness regime for longer.

  1. Set small attainable goals

Yes we all want six pack abs and a rocking body like Chris Hemsworth. That’s a good goal and one that is not necessarily unattainable. But it’s not a goal that will keep you motivated for too long. The secret to success is to fine tune our small goal process. Set goals that are do-able and achievable with your current lifestyle, work and family situation. Small wins add up to BIG accomplishments. You are more likely to keep going when you feel accomplished and less overwhelmed.
